This is how to create a FASTag
You can purchase FASTag by submitting a copy of your driving license and vehicle registration certificate. The bank also wants a copy of the user\’s pen card and Aadhaar card for KYC.
How FASTag works
FASTag is a sticker that is affixed to the windscreen of vehicles. During the crossing at the toll, the device connects to the scanner at the toll plaza using radio frequency identification technology and then the money is deducted from the account linked to FASTag. So that there is no need to stand at the toll plaza.
Keep this in mind
Whenever a vehicle with FASTag passes through a toll plaza, its speed should be 25 to 30 kilometers per hour. The vehicle should not be stopped at the toll plaza, if you drive too slowly from the toll plaza you may collide with the boom barrier as after a certain period of time the barrier goes down. If your FASTag is not read, talk to a Toll Plaza staff. It will read FASTag from a handheld machine.
It will cost twice as much
Automatic payment system FASTag will be mandatory at toll plazas across the country from 12 noon on Monday. The central government said in a statement on Sunday. People who have not yet installed FASTag on their vehicles may have to pay double the toll tax if they do not work.
If there is no FASTag, fines will also be levied on the toll plaza according to the category of vehicles which may be double the toll fee. Earlier on Sunday, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari had said that the deadline for FASTag would not be extended further and that it would be implemented in toll plazas across the country from Monday night.
He also appealed to the people to avail this e-payment facility to pay the toll fee of their vehicle. This will not only benefit the citizens but also save time. FASTag provides an electronic facility to reimburse the charges incurred at goal plazas. This was introduced in 2016,
The biggest advantage of this system is that vehicles do not have to stand at the toll plaza for any kind of compensation. Gadkari also said that FASTag registration on some highways is 90 per cent complete and only 10 per cent is left. He said that this facility is also available at Toll Naka which people should take advantage of.
To purchase FASTag, one has to provide a copy of driving license and vehicle registration certificate i.e. RC. In addition, the bank also requires a photocopy of PAN card and Aadhaar card for Know Your Customer (KYC). According to the administration, cash payments have now been stopped at the toll plaza. If there is no FASTag, the toll tax may have to be doubled.
FASTag is developed by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI). Vehicles using RFID will be allowed to cross the toll plaza without stopping. The toll tax will be automatically deducted on the vehicle which has FASTag. This tax will be deducted automatically when the vehicle passes the toll plaza.
Giving cash at a toll plaza while on the highway often becomes a traffic problem, but now it will bring you great relief. Because, from January 1, it has become mandatory to install FASTag on all vehicles. Toll on the highway will now be levied through Fastag. Then no cash will be taken from anyone on the toll. At present 80 per cent of the vehicles on the highway are charged through vehicle fastag. The central government\’s goal is to increase toll collection. At present, the daily revenue from tolls is Rs 93 crore, which the government will increase to Rs 100 crore.
FASTag is a tag and sticker affixed to the front of a car. So the scanner at the toll plaza on the highway scans the device with the radio frequency identification (RFID) technique from the sticker on the vehicle and the money is recovered from their bank account depending on the location. This is very convenient. There is no need to stop the vehicle at the toll through it. If Fastag is not linked to a prepaid account or debit / credit card, you will need to recharge it.
